Erick Gutiérrez is one of the Mexican players who are currently living the European dream, and recently said that he sees qualities in Alexis Vega that could lead him to a team in the Old Continent.
PSV Eindhoven midfielder Erick Gutiérrez and Chivas striker Alexis Vega have been playing together in the Mexican National Team, and they are among the players chosen by coach Gerardo Martino in the CONCACAF Qualifying process, so they know each other and appreciate their quality.
Erick Gutiérrez Clung on to Stay in Europe
Gutiérrez talked about how he has managed his career in Holland, highlighting his stubbornness and perseverance to stick with it despite the complications he has faced.
Erick Gutiérrez also spoke about Vega, and said that the idea of him playing in Europe is a topic that has been discussed already and showed his confidence that he will soon be able to emigrate: “I have spoken to him (Alexis) in the national team because he can make the leap to Europe. He just has to think things through. I really like him as a player.”
Alexis Vega is Chivas’ current top scorer with four goals and one assist to his name. These may not be extraordinary numbers for a striker, but Guadalajara’s situation in the current tournament is not the best.
Marcelo Michel Leaño recently stepped down as coach of the “Rebaño” and will be replaced by Ricardo Cadena as interim coach until the end of the regular season. It is very likely that Vega’s role will remain the same in the team despite the change of technical director.
As for Vega, it has been said that he could possibly leave Chivas soon, but rumors place him at Rayados de Monterrey. However, it is likely that Erick Gutiérrez’s statements are because the striker may have an offer in the Old Continent.
Vega and Gutiérrez could be joining PSV, as Chivas and the Dutch team have an agreement to exchange players.
Alexis still has a few months left on his contract with Chivas, but he could start receiving offers. For now, the press covering Guadalajara has made it known that they are planning to offer the striker a renewal, but we will have to wait to know if he will continue his career in Mexico or if he will emigrate and join Erick Gutiérrez or one of the other Mexicans playing in Europe.
