The Mexican National Team will play exhibition games against three South American teams and one African team in preparation for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which will be held in November and December.
The Mexican National Team qualified for the World Cup in second place in CONCACAF after the final octagonal. Last Friday, April 1, their group stage opponents were announced, and it is known that “El Tri” will be in Group C, sharing the group with Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia.
Bearing in mind that the Albiceleste (Argentina) will not be an easy opponent, they set themselves the task of looking for South American rivals with similar conditions. The Mexican National Team will face Nigeria, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay prior to the World Cup.
At this moment there is little information about the dates, times or venues, the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation just revealed this information about the match against Ecuador.
Ecuador, also qualified to Qatar 2022, will have a preparation tour in the United States from May 30 to June 14, so the match against the Mexican National Team will be on June 5 in the city of Chicago, at Soldier Field.
The matches against Paraguay, Uruguay and Nigeria are yet to be defined, although it is expected that, as against Ecuador, the match against Uruguay will also take place in June and the other two in September. For now, the only thing that is known about them is that they will be held in the United States, since Soccer United Marketing will be in charge of them.
Will the Mexican National Team no longer Face Argentina?
Prior to the draw for the World Cup, it had been announced that “El Tri” would play friendly matches against Argentina and Brazil in the United States, and it was even expected to play on September’s FIFA Date. However, it seems that this will no longer be possible and they will have to wait until November 26 when they meet in Qatar.
The Qatar 2022 World Cup will be held from November 21 to December 18. This year’s calendar is atypical due to the high temperatures experienced in the host country during the months of June and July.
Mexico will kick off its participation in the World Cup on Tuesday, November 22 against Poland at 10 a.m. (Mexico Central Time) and the venue for that match will be Estadio 974.
The second group stage match will be against Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Saturday, November 26 at 1 p.m. (Mexico Central Time) at the Lusail Stadium. The Mexican National Team’s third match in Group C will be against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, November 30 at 1 p.m. (Mexico Central Time), also at Lusail Stadium.
